PONDERED
- My wife and daughter thrifted me a Jean jacket a few weeks ago. I ordered some patches for it. It’s gonna be siiiiiick.
- I've been enjoying videos by Dequitem. He is "an armoured fighter and filmer of non-choreographed knight fights." It's great for fantasy fiction folks to see what fighting with swords, maces, pole arms, etc. actually looks like. My favorite takeaway from his videos is that fully armored combatants strike each other with weapons in order to wear down their opponents. Then they can be wrestled to the ground and stabbed with a dagger. Most weapons have little effect on armor. But if you are wrestling with daggers, you can more easily find a way to defeat your opponent. That's not the only way to fight, of course. But two fighters with armor and maces aren't going to do much damage to each other. Thinking of this stuff realistically is horrifying. But for RPG and fiction purposes, it's really interesting. Plus HEMA is interesting all on its own.
SORCERIES
I acquired a groovebox from 1996, the Roland MC-303. Sadly, I have to return it. It is supposed to be 100% functional, but several crucial buttons don’t work at all. Other buttons are finicky. I can deal with that. It’s 28 years old, after all. I don’t expect it to be pristine. But those dead buttons are a deal breaker.
