Finder Cloudburst Chapter 6, Part 5
We continued boasting
and hoping while we walked.
Just after sundown,
we had arrived.
I located the hole
with a lot of effort.
Night hid the entrance
but I prevailed.
We made our camp nearby.
Tick built a strong fire on
which I cooked our meal
of roasted meat.
We woke when the sun did
and greeted the cold dawn.
The wind caressed my
cheek. I shivered.
“Let’s get to work,” I said.
“The wind will not touch us
in the hole and past
the ancient door.”
We carefully climbed down
a rope into the hole.
There was no need for
more concussions.
The wind howled madly past
the hole above our heads.
I noticed blood stains
from my head wound.
“Is this where you were hurt?”
Tick asked, eyeing the blood.
“Yes, indeed,” I said.
“Let’s look around.”
“Does this not look like the
inside of a fine house?”
I asked Tick, pointing
to the old door.
“Will you open the door?”
Tick asked. “You should have the
honor, my good man,”
I said to him.
