Finder Cloudburst Chapter 7, Part 1
Burdened with our treasure,
Tick and I waddled home.
Fleagrass gates wide like
welcoming arms.
The sun was setting and
folks were eating dinner.
Alone on the street,
we walked to Tick’s.
His house was closer to
Wren’s house, near the market.
Our loot we stored here.
I shall return.
I went to the town’s edge
near the Fierce River where
my small house lingered.
Sparse, but ‘tis home.
I returned to Tick’s house
in the late morning as
I had slept quite late
worn from my work.
Together we trundled
across the market to
Wren Icemud’s abode,
laden with loot.
“I am glad to see you’ve
recovered from your wound,”
Wren called out, leaning
on her front door.
“I am better than that.
We are burdened with things
you will find to be
fascinating.”
She laughed at my words as
a friendly jest, not like
people laughed at me
when I was poor.
“I am intrigued. Come in,”
Wren said, entering her
house, leaving the door
ajar for us.
