Finder Cloudburst Chapter 7, Part 2
Once within Wren’s kitchen
I regaled her with tales
of our adventures
in the manor.
“You found an ancient house
swallowed by the land, such
long years have passed that
‘tis forgotten.”
I described the far site
where I found the manor.
Wren said she’ll research
its history.
Tick and I revealed the
artifacts that we found.
Books, small sculptures and
other trinkets.
Wren was impressed with the
items that we brought her.
She paid us quite well.
Tick was happy.
We earned several months
wages with just this jaunt.
We are not wealthy.
But this is good.
I do not know wherein
she acquires so much coin.
It does not matter
since I get paid.
Wren said, “I want you to
bring me to the manor.
You spoke of more books.
I must have these.”
“I will pay for your time
and a Finder’s fee too.
There is much work still
to be finished.”
“Sit down, Grub. We must talk.”
Tick and I joined her at
her kitchen table.
She looked worried.
