Finder Cloudburst Chapter 9, Part 2

Typhoon looked where Wren fell.
She stood dusty and hale,
her wand already
drawing new spells.

Typhoon could not react.
Wren’s magic took effect.
He was cut apart
by several spells.

Spells sliced searing ribbons
of dead flesh from the lich.
Howling agony.
Rent asunder.

Typhoon cut to pieces
a bloody pile in town.
Would he soon start to
regenerate?

Wren did not want that risk.
She told the villagers
to throw the body
in the river.

She hoped that the pieces
would be carried to sea
and scattered widely,
dead forever.

Still astonished at how
Wren survived the attack
I asked her, “Which spell
did save your life?”

She winked and said to me,
“I know a trick or two
that even a lich
cannot defeat.”

“We shall rest in Bearbat.
I have some things to do.
We will start for home
on the morrow.”
