The Spinner's Writ: Selibniyor
A Child of the mother and father
was idly wandering the world.
Qayirw enjoyed watching the
fiery light of the sun and the
icy light of the moon arrive on the world
to be captured and scattered
by the many gorgeous gems
that she had planted
generously around the land.
The sky would become a
kaleidoscope of dazzling hues
to delight any onlooker
that cared to rest and view
Qayirw's work.
As she crested her favorite hilltop,
just at sunset, the rays of light
galloped towards the beach below,
like orange and red riders upon
fierce blue steeds adorned
with majestic purple tack.
She had decorated the beach
with many varied gems
that would catch the light
and loose it upon crashing
ocean waves, now glittering
like a tumultuous rainbow
of shattering glass.
She looked upon the beach
and found her work to be undone.
Nought but sand remained.
Who was responsible for this theft?
Her mind first went to Myrtaro.
He would gladly undo work that
brought so much beauty to the world.
Qayirw left the beach to
seek out her villainous sibling.
Beyond the crest of the hill
stood a figure buried within
the folds of a voluminous cloak.
Qayirw spoke to the stranger,
“I do not know you.
Who is within that cloak?
Mother? Father? Sister? Brothers?”
In response, the figure said nought,
but spread open their cloak to
reveal themselves.
Their body was a roiling
mass of bats and owls
swirling within the confines of the cloak.
The patterns of their flight
marked out the limbs of a body
and two albino bats sat
within the head to serve as eyes.
A screeching comprised
of the voices of many bats
and many owls spoke,
“My name is Selibniyorquopismnwrye,
Greedy Noble of Thievery and Secrets.
I am a Child of the Spinner and the Weaver.”
They are known as Selibniyor for short.
Qayirw haughtily said,
“I have no brother or sister such as you.”
Selibniyor said, “I am neither brother nor
sister, but I am your sibling,
as we share the same parentage.”
Qayirw went then before
the mother and father.
She asked them of that which
Selibniyor spoke.
They confirmed their tale.
They said to Qayirw,
“We witnessed the beauty
that you have been creating.
We lusted for it.
Upon expressing this desire
to each other, another Child was born.
Selibniyor stole the gems
and hid them away.
Our greed was sated
through your sibling's theft.”
Qayirw asked Selibniyor to
retrieve the stolen riches.
They said, “I will never return them.
My greed compelled me
to acquire the riches.
I hid them away in a safe place.
Now I have wealth that no one else does.
I have power over you by
denying you access to the wealth.”
The King and Queen spoke
to their Child of their new
domains of governance.
They have duties.
Selibniyor governs greed, secrecy,
money and thievery,
richness and high station.
