Keeper of Lore

The Book of Temples Chapter 12

Within the tower
a temple was made
to worship Greedy Noble.

It would be adorned
with fine art and jewels,
and lavish, gold ornaments.

The Child God’s People
had no crafting skill
to make majestic objects.

Greedy Noble sent
their People abroad
to find these wondrous treasures.

The People went far,
searching every land
and returned with artifacts.

These things were displayed
within the temple
instilling awe and beauty.

Greedy Noble asked,
“Whence did these things come?
They were not birthed by nature.”

The People told them,
“There are far places
where other People settled.”

“They have artisans
that craft these fine goods.
We took them on threat of pain.”

The Child God was pleased.
Only wealth mattered,
they cared not from whence it came.

Greedy Noble sent
their People to find
and capture these artisans.

The raiders returned
with workers enchained
their violence was a success.

They were set to work
producing treasures,
fine works of art, gold and jewels.

The tower became
a lavish palace
glittering with opulence.

The Child God was sat
upon a gold throne
above the altar dais.

They watched with pleasure
the People worship
their god with fervent ardor.
