The Book of Temples Chapter 15
The defense began
with the Hearthowl Guard
patrolling all of the lands.
Their might was unmatched.
The beasts were undone.
The farmers and crops were safe.
The Grimbat Brigade
pursued the vile beasts
as they fled from the battle.
Hearthowl Guard remained
behind to patrol.
Their grim work was done for now.
The fleeing beasts died
in sight of their lair.
The Grimbat Brigade fought well.
Then infiltrating
the underground lair,
musty halls of gloom and fear.
The Brigade crept through,
slaying as they sneaked,
the weak and young were not spared.
The Grimbat Brigade
and the Hearthowl Guard
went home to tell of their deeds.
The People praised them.
Pondiron was glad too.
Greedy Noble exulted.
They celebrated
with feasting and tales
people sang of their own deeds.
Hearthowl kept their watch.
Grimbat travelled far.
The attacks dwindled to naught.
