Keeper of Lore

The Book of Temples Chapter 19

Pondiron now declared
her people sorted
their work denoted their rank.

Each rank collected
similar people
everyone now knew their place.

Societal rank
dictated the laws,
taxes and who you now served.

The highest of ranks,
monarch and barons
ruled everyone below them.

They were named Starlight
and none were their peer.
They lived inside the tower.

Their neighbors within,
on floors far below,
clerics, the Canopy rank.

The Canopy led
worship of their god,
designing that religion.

The Grimbat Brigade
and the Hearthowl Guard
both filled out the Stormcloud rank.

The Mountainside rank
were the governors
beholden to the barons.

Each governor led
several mayors
that comprised the Hilltop rank.

The owners of land
ruled by local laws
worked for no one but themselves.

Foothill was their rank
and they did employ
people to work their vast lands.

The Groundfoot workers,
the largest of ranks,
fed and supplied the queendom.

These people were free
to do as they pleased.
They had choice in where they worked.

The Cavernous rank,
the lowest of low,
the law breakers forced to serve.

People pay their way
generating worth,
resources and money rise

to support leaders
that create nothing
but ensure the Queendom thrives.
