The Book of Temples Chapter 25

The dragons hoarded
what could be found here.
The city was soon stripped bare.

Dragons’ gaze wandered
lands far and below
that they desired to explore.

Perhaps they could grow
their hoards with new things
from strange towns and distant caves.

Glory and Ruin’s
People also bore
the urge to seek new places.

In making their home
they had delved deeply.
There was nowhere to explore.

The People had loved
the mystery of
an undiscovered cavern.

And also they loved
the majesty of
the city that they had built.

Now they were yearning
for places unknown
and paths their feet had not trod.

From windows and doors
cut from the mountain
they watched land, water and trees.

They desired to walk
through creeks and forests
and wander the flat, grass plains.

The People spoke to
Glory and Ruin
and shared with them their desires.

The Child God agreed
that they had both needs
to remain home and wander.

Glory and Ruin
gave encouragement.
Their People were free to leave.

Yet some must remain
to maintain their home
and defend it from others.

The People were pleased.
The first were chosen
to leave home and wander wide.

The dragons would join
this expedition
to fulfill their need to hoard.

Each person promised
that they would return
to home within one year’s time.
