Glory and Ruin’s
People then ended
their foray into new lands.
Following river
back to the Mountain
they carried their dead on wains.
Child god greeted them
with sorrow and praise.
Both sides were equally shown.
The People regaled
Glory and Ruin
with tales of their adventures.
Glory and Ruin
mourned the dead dragon
and People slain while afield.
They proclaimed no need
for further vengeance.
The malefactors were dead.
Yet war was declared
on neighboring foes
that knew nought of their People.
If violent people
were living nearby,
then nobody here was safe.
Glory and Ruin’s
didactic decrees
demanded peace through warfare.
The wayfarers stayed
home in the city
their turn abroad was now done.
The next explorers
were ordered to seek
for neighboring villages.
They must all be slain
and villages razed.
Empty lands would be their wall.
With no one nearby
no threats could exist.
Their People would have safety.
The glory of peace
and ruin of war
continued unabated.
