The Book of Temples Chapter 38
The visitors struck
at Hand and Knife’s folk.
Greedy Noble had them fight.
Their Child God declared
that they had the right
to take what they would with war.
Hand and Knife had not
prepared her People.
They knew nought of violence.
The visitors slew
with knife, club and axe.
Hand and Knife’s People then fled.
Six people were dead.
On came aggressors
to kill all that would not aid.
The victims must fight.
They had to defend
and slay Greedy Noble’s folk.
They were weaponless
but had a great tool
used in their everyday lives.
They employed magic
in their daily work
aside from healing the sick.
They used spell wrought fire
to cook and craft with
and now they burned attackers.
They felled trees with spells
and fashioned lumber.
Now their foes were cut apart.
Mending with magic
and sewing new clothes,
their foes’ skin was stitched and bound.
Trees and stones lifted
with magic to build,
hefting foes high to plummet.
Greedy Noble’s folk
could not long withstand
defenders’ magic onslaught.
They fled to the west
whither they had walked
down from the Only Mountain.
