The Book of Temples Chapter 5
People working in
Lord of Feasts’ temple
performed the sacrifices.
Animals were slain
to please the Child God.
He required this rite monthly.
The People were sad.
This cruelty was wrong.
They did their duty and wept.
Their hearts were broken
anew every month
as the rite held no meaning.
The People knew not
what need a god had
to receive dead animals.
And still they performed
other rituals
already required of them.
Lord of Feasts cared not
for their misgivings.
He loved to witness the death.
He also enjoyed
the People’s anguish.
Suffering increased his joy.
