The Book of Temples Chapter 8
Lord of Feasts appeared
below his tower
amongst the People outside.
Ecstatic were they
loyal believers
rarely they beheld their god.
They gathered around
the visiting Child
begging him for more blessings.
“We are so hungry!”
the People declared,
“We have not enough to eat!”
“Your blessings are scarce,
the food does suffice,
but it is barely enough.”
Lord of Feasts listened
to tales of their plight
and sorrow clouded his face.
“My dearest People!
Such wisdom you show,
already you know my needs!”
“I come to you now
begging for your aid.
I wish I could bless you more.”
“I cannot provide
for I too am weak
sacrificial rites have ceased.”
The People were pleased
and eager to serve.
The Child God gave them purpose.
Lord of Feasts described
the tumult within
his sacred tower temple.
“The People inside
are tasked to perform
the rituals of worship.”
“These miscreants failed
in their holy work
for they desire so much more.”
“They refuse the rites
unless I provide
endless feasting and treasure.”
“The People weaken
me with their neglect.
I suffer without the rites.”
Living in squalor
beneath the tower,
people were eager to please.
Lord of Feasts declared
the tower was theirs
if they would seize it by force.
Murder those people,
negligent workers
that failed to do their duty.
The Child God would teach
them to sacrifice
once the temple has been cleansed.
Animals be slain
and worship rites done
to please the dour Lord of Feasts.
Then splendor is theirs
once they are inside
sacrifice is a fair price.
