Keeper of Lore

Two and Half Years of this Blog, Time for a Recap

I've been posting my stories and poems to this blog since February 2024. My latest posts have titles like The Book of Temples Chapter 22 and The Moonskull Verses Canto 43. These lengthy tales might be a little overwhelming to new readers. I figured that it is time for a recap of what I am doing and how to read all of these tales.

I was running a tabletop roleplaying game called Savage Worlds Adventure Edition. We were playing in my homebrew world. After the players had successfully completed the first campaign, an NPC told them that he had commissioned a poet to write of their deeds. He wanted the world to know why the Demon Plague happened and who put an end to it. Later, I decided that it would be fun to actually write this epic poem. I got to work and it quickly blossomed into an enormous labor of love. If you count the game writing that I have done, I've been writing stories for this world for five years now.

My initial plan was to publish my writings in zines. That is why earlier stuff is broken into chapters and parts. I needed them to physically fit into a paper zine. I was never happy with the format. My texts were just too long. I started this blog as a less restrictive publishing format. I still wanted paper copies of my writings though. Keeper of Lore Annual books were born. You can order print on demand paper copies if you like physical media like I do. Each book collects everything that I wrote in the previous year. I have three books available.

At this point in time I have a whole bunch of different stories. It might be a little intimidating to look at all of the blog posts and try to make sense of it. The Demon Plague and Unfated Wanderers are the tales direct from the gaming table.

Every tale is listed in chronological order on the Tales From History. This is a great place to set as home base for reading the stories. I am also going to release the stories as ebooks in the not too distant future. There is one ebook for each tale. These will be the easiest way to read the stories. Each chapter/canto is in order and all in one place. They also contain some exclusive content. There is also exclusive content in the print books. You can read all of the most important stuff for free here on the blog.

I miss the old days of the internet. It was a bunch of people putting their own weird, unique stuff on personal websites without the urge to monetize or become influencers. Keeper of Lore is my weird corner of the internet. While I do have books for sale, monetizing content is not the main focus. The free blog is the priority.

Long live blogs! Long live Bear Blog!
